In this example by Troitsky, it appears that white will lose his pawn and the game will be drawn... but is it???
1. Bh6+! Kg8 (1. ... Ke7 2. gxh7 +-) 2. g7! Kf7 3. g8=Q+!
This last move, surprisingly enough, allows black to take white's last pawn. You can't force mate with a king and bishop!
Or can you...
3. ... Kxg8 4. Ke6! (forcing black's king into the corner) Kh8 5. Kf7!
Without the pawn on e7, this position would be a stalemate.
5. ... e5 6. Bg7#!
So it is possible (under rare circumstances) to deliver mate with a king and bishop! I'd like to deliver a mate like this just once...
